Introducing POE2 Overlord!
POE2 Overlord is a companion app for Path of Exile 2: a web app for builds, crafting, economy prices, and campaign walkthroughs, paired with an optional helper that tracks your character automatically while you play. Here's a tour of what's in it.
What it is
The web app is where you plan, browse, and look things up. The helper is a small optional program you run alongside the game, and its one job is to track your characters. It watches the game's client log, notices when you level up, change zones, or die, and sends that to your account, so your character's level, current zone, deaths, and playtime stay current with nothing to enter by hand. Nothing hooks into the game process. It reads a log file the game writes to disk, the same approach the popular trade overlays use, and never touches the game client.
You can use most of the app without the helper. Economy, the crafting bench, community builds, and walkthroughs are all browsable with or without an account. The helper is what turns it from a reference site into something that knows what you're doing right now.
Character tracking
Once the helper is running, your active character is tracked automatically: level, experience per hour, playtime, deaths, and where each of those deaths happened.
Each character gets its own overview: a leveling chart benchmarked against the campaign, playtime trends, and a zone-by-zone log of where your time went. An account summary rolls all of that up across every character and league, which is a good way to find out where a league really went.
A dashboard built around your session
The home screen is a grid of cards you can drag, resize, and rearrange. It holds your character, your current zone, your next walkthrough step, and the prices you're watching, and it stays how you left it.
Economy and crafting
The economy page pulls live exchange rates for currency and other tradeable items, sourced from poe.ninja, across leagues and game modes. Star the ones you care about and they show up as a ticker on your dashboard, so you can stop alt-tabbing to check whether a drop is worth the inventory slot.
The crafting bench is a reference for the game's 1,700-plus base types and every prefix and suffix each one can roll. On top of that sit step-by-step crafting recipes with the expected cost worked out in advance. You can follow the community's recipes or publish your own.
Builds and walkthroughs
The build planner lets you lay out a complete character: class, ascendancy, skill gems, gear, and the full passive tree. Publish it and other players can browse and copy it. Every build page also shows league-wide statistics, so you can see how popular a build's core skills are before committing a character to it. When you're ready to play it, export straight to the in-game Build Planner or as a Path of Building 2 code.
Walkthroughs are zone-by-zone campaign routes. Follow one and the helper advances the current step as your character enters each zone. Clone any community route and edit it into your own.
What's next
The app is early and I'm building it in the open. Deeper build and gear metrics and tighter integration with the official Path of Exile 2 API are the two big items on the list. This blog is where release notes, how-to guides, and eventually featured community builds will land.
If you want to try it, create a free account or just open the dashboard and poke around. And if something's broken or missing, I'd like to hear about it.
